- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Chili powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Green onions (chopped) - for garnish
Steps
- Cut the pork shoulder into thin strips, about 1.5 cm thick.
- In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, honey, Chinese five-spice powder, Sichuan peppercorns (crushed), chili powder, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, and rice vinegar to create the marinade.
- Add the pork strips to the marinade, making sure each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 4 hours for better flavor.
- Preheat your grill or BBQ to medium-high heat.
- Remove the pork from the marinade and thread the strips onto skewers.
- Grill the skewers for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until the pork is cooked through and caramelized on the outside.
- Once cooked, remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes.
- Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
