Ingredients

  • Fresh fish fillets (such as tilapia or cod) - 300 grams
  • Water - 500 milliliters
  • Ginger - 10 grams, sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Dried red chili peppers - 5 pieces
  • Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Cilantro - a handful, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons

Steps

  1. In a pot, bring 500 milliliters of water to a boil and add the sliced ginger, minced garlic, dried red chili peppers, and Sichuan peppercorns. Let it simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors.
  2. Add the fish fillets to the pot and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the fish is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the soy sauce and rice vinegar. Once the fish is cooked, remove it from the pot and place it in a serving bowl.
  4. Strain the broth to remove the solids and pour the flavorful liquid over the fish in the bowl.
  5. In a small pan, heat the vegetable oil until hot. Once hot, pour the oil over the fish and broth to enhance the flavors.
  6. Garnish with chopped green onions and cilantro before serving.
