  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 1 clove, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Soy sauce (low sodium) - 1 tablespoon
  • Green onion - 2 tablespoons, finely chopped
  • Egg - 1, beaten
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Vegetable oil - for frying

Steps

  1. In a food processor, combine the shrimp, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, green onion, beaten egg, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Pulse until a smooth paste forms.
  2. Spread the shrimp mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread, pressing down firmly to adhere.
  3. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the shrimp spread, pressing gently to ensure they stick.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium heat, enough to cover the bottom of the pan.
  5. Place the bread slices shrimp-side down in the hot oil and fry for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Carefully flip the slices and fry the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden and crisp.
  7. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels. Cut each slice into quarters and serve hot.
