Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 200 grams
- Warm water - 100 ml
- Yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 5 grams
- Salt - 3 grams
- Ground beef (or lamb) - 150 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- White pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cooking oil - 2 tablespoons
- Chicken or beef broth - 100 ml
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Gradually add warm water while mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 30 minutes.
- In another bowl, mix the ground beef, green onions, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and white pepper. Stir well until combined.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place 1 tablespoon of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Carefully pinch the edges together to seal the bun, forming a pleated top.
- Heat oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Place the buns in the skillet, seam side down, and fry for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
- Add the broth to the skillet, cover with a lid, and steam the buns for about 8-10 minutes until cooked through.
- Remove the lid and continue cooking for an additional 2 minutes to crisp up the bottom. Serve hot with a dipping sauce of soy sauce and vinegar.
