Ingredients
- Ground chicken - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Chinese five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Green onion - 2, finely chopped
- Cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
- Rice flour - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Steamed bao buns - 2
- Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Pickled carrots - 1/4 cup
- Sriracha sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Mayonnaise - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, five-spice powder, chopped green onion, chopped cilantro, rice flour, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal-sized patties.
- Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until fully cooked through and nicely browned.
- While the patties are cooking, steam the bao buns according to package instructions until warm and soft.
- To assemble the burgers, spread mayonnaise and sriracha sauce on the inside of each bao bun.
- Place the cooked chicken patties inside the buns, and top with sliced cucumber and pickled carrots.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your Shao Kao Burger!
