- Soy sauce - 60 ml
- Hoisin sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 20 grams
- Five-spice powder - 5 grams
- Ginger, minced - 10 grams
- Garlic, minced - 5 grams
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 10 ml
- Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
- Black pepper - 2 grams
- Water - 200 ml
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey, five-spice powder, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Score the skin of the pork belly in a crisscross pattern, being careful not to cut too deep into the meat.
- Place the pork belly into the marinade, ensuring it's well-coated, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a baking dish, add the marinated pork belly and pour in the water, then cover the dish with aluminum foil.
- Bake the pork belly in the preheated oven for 60 minutes.
- After 60 minutes, remove the foil, increase the oven temperature to 220°C (428°F), and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the skin is crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve the sliced pork belly topped with chopped green onions and a side of steamed vegetables or brown rice.
