Ingredients
- Fresh crab - 500 grams
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
- Honey - 2 tablespoons
- Shaoxing wine - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Green onions, chopped - 2 stalks
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Red chili flakes - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 50 milliliters
Steps
- Clean the fresh crab thoroughly under cold water and remove the shell, gills, and any inedible parts.
- In a bowl, mix together the gluten-free soy sauce, honey, Shaoxing wine, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, red chili flakes, black pepper, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
- Place the cleaned crab in a shallow dish and pour the marinade over it, ensuring the crab is well-coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, place the marinated crab on the grill and cook for about 5-7 minutes on each side, basting with leftover marinade.
- During the last few minutes of grilling, sprinkle chopped green onions over the crab for added flavor.
- Once cooked, remove the crab from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the Shanghai BBQ Crab hot, garnished with extra green onions and lemon wedges on the side.
