Ingredients

  • Brussels sprouts - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 30 ml
  • Sesame oil - 15 ml
  • Brown sugar - 10 grams
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Water - 100 ml

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and black pepper.
  4. Add the halved Brussels sprouts to the bowl and toss until they are well-coated in the sauce.
  5. Spread the Brussels sprouts evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  6. Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, tossing halfway through, until they are golden brown and tender.
  7. In the last 5 minutes of roasting, add water to the baking sheet to create steam and enhance tenderness.
  8. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions, then serve warm.
