Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey or maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Fresh ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons for frying

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey (or maple syrup), rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for at least 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated tofu cubes and cook for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy.
  5. Pour the remaining marinade over the tofu in the skillet and sprinkle sesame seeds on top. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and glazes the tofu.
  6. Serve the sesame glazed tofu hot, garnished with chopped spring onions.
