Ingredients

  • Tempeh - 200 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice vinegar - 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame seeds - 2 tablespoons
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon for frying

Steps

  1. Slice the tempeh into thin strips or cubes, about 1 cm thick.
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, maple syrup, sesame oil, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create the marinade.
  3. Add the tempeh to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, add the marinated tempeh pieces, reserving the marinade for later.
  5. Cook the tempeh for about 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
  6. Pour the reserved marinade into the pan and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until it thickens and glazes the tempeh.
  7. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the tempeh and toss to coat evenly.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions. Pair with rice or steamed vegetables if desired.
