Ingredients

  • Tuna steaks - 2 pieces (150g each)
  • Sesame seeds - 50g (25g black and 25g white)
  • Coconut aminos - 2 tablespoons
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
  • Lemon juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a shallow dish, combine the coconut aminos, minced garlic, grated ginger, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
  2. Add the tuna steaks to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Allow them to marinate for 10 minutes.
  3. While the tuna is marinating, mix the black and white sesame seeds on a plate.
  4. Remove the tuna from the marinade and press both sides of each steak into the sesame seeds to coat them evenly.
  5. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the sesame-crusted tuna steaks.
  6. Sear the tuna for about 1-2 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer if preferred.
  7. Remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing.
  8. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve immediately.
