Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 100 grams
  • Water - 120 ml
  • Red bean paste - 50 grams
  • White sesame seeds - 50 grams
  • Coconut oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Oil for frying - as needed

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour, sugar, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Gradually add water while stirring until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and flatten each piece in your palm.
  4. Place a teaspoon of red bean paste in the center of each dough piece, then fold and pinch the edges to seal, rolling into a ball.
  5. In a shallow dish, spread out the sesame seeds. Roll each ball in the sesame seeds to coat evenly.
  6. Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the sesame balls, a few at a time, avoiding overcrowding.
  7. Fry for about 4-5 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally for even cooking.
  8. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels before serving.
