Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Instant yeast - 5 grams
  • Sugar - 10 grams
  • Salt - 2 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Cooking oil - 15 ml
  • Shrimp, peeled and deveined - 100 grams
  • Fish fillet (like cod or tilapia), chopped - 100 grams
  • Green onions, finely chopped - 30 grams
  • Ginger, grated - 5 grams
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Soy sauce (halal) - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • Black pepper - 1 gram

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt together. Gradually add warm water and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic. Let it rise for 30 minutes in a warm place until doubled in size.
  2. Meanwhile, prepare the filling by combining the shrimp, chopped fish fillet, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  3. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a small disk, about 10 cm in diameter.
  4. Place a spoonful of the seafood filling in the center of each disk. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the filling inside, forming a bun.
  5. Place the buns on a piece of parchment paper and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  6. Prepare a steamer by bringing water to a boil. Place the buns in the steamer basket, ensuring they are not touching, and steam for 15-20 minutes until they are fluffy and cooked through.
  7. Serve the seafood buns warm, accompanied by soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
