  • Water - 300 ml
  • Scallions - 6 stalks, finely chopped
  • Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
  2. In a medium saucepan, add the soaked rice and 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
  3. While the rice is cooking, heat the vegetable oil in a small pan over medium heat.
  4. Add the chopped scallions to the oil and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and slightly crispy. Be careful not to burn them.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and transfer it to a serving bowl.
  7. Drizzle the scallion oil mixture over the rice and mix gently to combine.
  8. Serve warm as a delicious side dish or a light main course.
