- Jasmine rice - 150 grams
- Water - 300 ml
- Scallions - 6 stalks, finely chopped
- Vegetable oil - 4 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
Steps
- Rinse the jasmine rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for 20 minutes.
- In a medium saucepan, add the soaked rice and 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 15 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed.
- While the rice is cooking, heat the vegetable oil in a small pan over medium heat.
- Add the chopped scallions to the oil and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they become fragrant and slightly crispy. Be careful not to burn them.
- Remove the pan from heat and stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper.
- Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and transfer it to a serving bowl.
- Drizzle the scallion oil mixture over the rice and mix gently to combine.
