- Silken tofu - 300 grams
- Vegetable broth - 200 ml
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 1 clove, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Green onions - 2 stalks, chopped
- Mushrooms (shiitake or button) - 50 grams, thinly sliced
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Water - 2 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- White pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a medium saucepan, combine vegetable broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Add the sliced mushrooms to the saucepan and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
- In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water and stir until smooth. Slowly pour the cornstarch mixture into the simmering broth, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens slightly, about 2-3 minutes.
- While the sauce is thickening, gently heat the silken tofu in a microwave or steam it in a steamer for about 5 minutes until warm.
- Once the sauce is ready, carefully place the warmed silken tofu into bowls and pour the mushroom sauce over the top.
- Garnish with chopped green onions, and season with salt and white pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately while warm.
