- Pumpkin puree - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic (minced) - 1 clove
- Green onion (finely chopped) - 2 tablespoons
- Five spice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/4 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Egg - 1 (beaten, for egg wash)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add ice water, mixing until the dough holds together. Form into a disk, wrap in plastic, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In another bowl, mix the pumpkin puree, soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, green onion, five spice powder, black pepper, and cornstarch until well combined.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface to fit a 20 cm pie dish. Place the dough in the dish and trim the edges.
- Pour the pumpkin filling into the prepared crust, smoothing the top with a spatula.
- Brush the edges of the pie crust with the beaten egg.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is set.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
