Ingredients

  • Fresh octopus - 300 grams
  • Red bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Yellow bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 inch, minced
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Start by cleaning the octopus thoroughly under cold running water. Remove the beak and any internal organs if necessary.
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the octopus and simmer for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Drain and let cool.
  3. Once cooled, cut the octopus into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a large skillet or wok, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Add the sliced bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until they begin to soften.
  6. Add the octopus pieces to the skillet, along with the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, black pepper, and chili flakes if using. Stir-fry for another 5-7 minutes until everything is well combined and heated through.
  7. Garnish with chopped spring onions before serving.
