  • Water - 200 milliliters
  • White sesame seeds - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Chopped scallions - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
  3. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 20 minutes, until it becomes sticky and translucent.
  4. While the rice is steaming, toast the white sesame seeds in a dry pan over medium heat for about 5 minutes until they are golden and fragrant, stirring frequently.
  5. In a bowl, combine the cooked rice with salt, chopped scallions, and sesame oil, mixing well.
  6. Allow the rice mixture to cool slightly, then wet your hands and take a small amount of the mixture to form into balls, about the size of a golf ball.
  7. Roll each rice ball in the toasted sesame seeds until fully coated.
