Ingredients

  • Octopus - 400 grams, cleaned
  • Olive oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
  • Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
  • Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Lemon - 1, juiced
  • Fresh cilantro - 2 tablespoons, chopped
  • Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, toasted

Steps

  1. In a large bowl, combine olive oil, minced garlic, grated ginger, gluten-free soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, chili flakes, black pepper, and lemon juice to create the marinade.
  2. Add the cleaned octopus to the marinade, ensuring it is well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Remove the octopus from the marinade, reserving the marinade for basting.
  4. Place the octopus on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side, basting with the reserved marinade occasionally, until the octopus is charred and tender.
  5. Once cooked, remove the octopus from the grill and let it rest for a few minutes. Slice into bite-sized pieces.
  6. Serve the grilled octopus garnished with chopped cilantro and toasted sesame seeds.
