Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Warm water - 120 milliliters
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Pumpkin puree - 100 grams
  • Vegetable oil - 15 milliliters
  • Ground cinnamon - 1 teaspoon
  • Ground ginger - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chopped walnuts (optional) - 30 grams

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and vegetable oil.
  3. Knead the dough for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until doubled in size.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix pumpkin puree, cinnamon, ginger, and chopped walnuts (if using) until well combined.
  5. After the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a small circle.
  6. Place a spoonful of the pumpkin filling in the center of each circle and fold the edges to seal, shaping it into a bun.
  7. Arrange the buns on a steamer rack lined with parchment paper. Cover and let them rest for an additional 10-15 minutes.
  8. Steam the buns for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and set. Serve warm.
