Ingredients

  • Pork shoulder, ground - 200 grams
  • Wonton wrappers - 20 pieces
  • Green onion, finely chopped - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
  • Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
  • Soy sauce (halal) - 2 tablespoons
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • White pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Chicken broth (halal) - 500 ml
  • Water - 500 ml
  • Salt - to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish - a handful

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, green onion, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
  2. Place 1 teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold over to form a triangle, and press to seal. Bring the two corners of the triangle together to form a small pouch, sealing the edges well.
  3. In a large pot, combine the chicken broth and water. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  4. Carefully add the wontons to the simmering broth. Cook for about 6-8 minutes or until the wontons float to the surface and are cooked through.
  5. Taste the broth and add salt as needed. Remove from heat.
  6. Ladle the broth and wontons into bowls and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
