Ingredients
- Pork spareribs - 500 grams
- Soy sauce (Kosher) - 60 ml
- Honey - 30 ml
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Garlic (minced) - 2 cloves
- Ginger (grated) - 1 teaspoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Five-spice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Spring onions (chopped) - 2 stalks
- Sesame seeds (toasted) - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F).
- In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, sesame oil, five-spice powder, and black pepper to create the marinade.
- Place the pork spareribs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish and pour the marinade over them, ensuring they are well coated. Seal or cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Remove the ribs from the marinade and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Reserve the marinade for later.
- Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, remove the foil and brush the ribs with the reserved marinade. Increase the oven temperature to 220°C (428°F) and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the ribs are caramelized and slightly crispy.
- Remove from the oven and let rest for a few minutes. Slice the ribs and garnish with chopped spring onions and toasted sesame seeds before serving.
