Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Granulated sugar - 10 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Salt - 3 grams
- Ground pork - 200 grams
- Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Ginger - 5 grams, minced
- Garlic - 2 grams, minced
- Black pepper - 1 gram
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes until doubled in size.
- In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Add ground pork, soy sauce, and black pepper, cooking until the pork is fully cooked. Stir in green onions and remove from heat to cool.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of each circle. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal.
- Place the buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer basket. Let them rise for another 15 minutes.
- Steam the buns over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
- Serve warm and enjoy your homemade high-protein pork buns.
