Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 250 grams
  • Active dry yeast - 5 grams
  • Granulated sugar - 10 grams
  • Warm water - 150 ml
  • Salt - 3 grams
  • Ground pork - 200 grams
  • Green onions - 2 stalks, finely chopped
  • Soy sauce - 15 ml
  • Sesame oil - 5 ml
  • Ginger - 5 grams, minced
  • Garlic - 2 grams, minced
  • Black pepper - 1 gram

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In another bowl, mix flour and salt. Gradually add the yeast mixture, kneading until a smooth dough forms.
  3. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for 30-40 minutes until doubled in size.
  4. In a skillet, heat sesame oil over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger, sautéing for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add ground pork, soy sauce, and black pepper, cooking until the pork is fully cooked. Stir in green onions and remove from heat to cool.
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a circle about 10 cm in diameter.
  7. Place a spoonful of the pork filling in the center of each circle. Fold the edges over the filling and pinch to seal.
  8. Place the buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer basket. Let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  9. Steam the buns over boiling water for 15-20 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy your homemade high-protein pork buns.
