Ingredients

  • Pork belly - 300 grams
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Hoisin sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, finely sliced
  • Lettuce leaves (e.g., butter or romaine) - 6 large leaves
  • Cucumber - 1, julienned
  • Fresh cilantro - a handful, for garnish
  • Chili sauce (optional) - to taste

Steps

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, hoisin sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and sesame oil to create a marinade.
  3. Cut the pork belly into bite-sized pieces and add them to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are well coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  4. Spread the marinated pork belly on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the pork is crispy and caramelized, tossing halfway through for even cooking.
  5. While the pork is cooking, prepare the lettuce leaves, cucumber, and green onions.
  6. Once the pork belly is done, remove it from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
  7. To assemble, place a few pieces of pork belly onto a lettuce leaf, top with julienned cucumber, green onions, and fresh cilantro. Add chili sauce if desired.
  8. Wrap the lettuce around the filling and enjoy your delicious Pork Belly Lettuce Wraps!
