- Pork belly - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 30 ml
- Honey - 15 grams
- Rice vinegar - 15 ml
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 10 grams, grated
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Fresh cilantro - 20 grams, chopped
- Whole wheat bao buns - 4 pieces
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, minced garlic, grated ginger, salt, and pepper to prepare the marinade.
- Cut the pork belly into 1-inch thick slices and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Place the marinated pork belly on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes, turning once halfway through, until crispy and cooked through.
- While the pork is baking, steam the whole wheat bao buns according to package instructions until warm.
- Once the pork is done, slice it into smaller pieces if desired.
- Assemble the buns by placing a piece of pork belly in each bun, adding julienned cucumber, and topping with fresh cilantro.
- Drizzle a small amount of sesame oil over the assembled buns before serving.
