Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Active dry yeast - 5 grams
- Sugar - 10 grams
- Warm water - 150 ml
- Salt - 5 grams
- Ground halal pork - 150 grams
- Shredded cabbage - 50 grams
- Grated carrots - 30 grams
- Chopped green onions - 20 grams
- Soy sauce (halal) - 15 ml
- Sesame oil - 5 ml
- Ginger (minced) - 5 grams
- Garlic (minced) - 5 grams
- Pepper - 2 grams
Steps
- In a bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a separate bowl, mix the flour and salt. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, gradually add it to the flour mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes or until it doubles in size.
- In the meantime, prepare the filling by mixing the ground pork, shredded cabbage, grated carrots, chopped green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, minced ginger, minced garlic, and pepper in a bowl until well combined.
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a small circle about 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a tablespoon of the pork and vegetable filling in the center of each circle. Gather the edges and pinch them together to seal the bun.
- Place the filled buns on parchment paper squares in a steamer basket and let them rise for another 10 minutes.
- Steam the buns over boiling water for about 15 minutes until they are fluffy and cooked through.
- Serve warm with soy sauce or chili sauce for dipping.
