Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour - 200 grams
  • Granulated sugar - 50 grams
  • Instant yeast - 5 grams
  • Warm water - 100 ml
  • Milk - 50 ml
  • Unsalted butter - 30 grams, melted
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Egg - 1, beaten (for the dough)
  • Pineapple jam - 100 grams
  • Powdered sugar - 30 grams
  • Cornstarch - 15 grams
  • Baking powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the yeast mixture, milk, and melted butter, along with the beaten egg.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough is rising, prepare the topping by mixing the powdered sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until well combined. Add a little water if needed to form a paste.
  5. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide into 4 equal pieces.
  6. Shape each piece into a ball and flatten slightly. Place a teaspoon of pineapple jam in the center of each piece, then fold the edges over to seal.
  7. Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Top each bun generously with the prepared topping mixture.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
