- all-purpose flour - 200 grams
- granulated sugar - 50 grams
- active dry yeast - 5 grams
- milk - 100 ml
- unsalted butter - 30 grams, melted
- egg - 1 large
- salt - 1/4 teaspoon
- pineapple jam - 100 grams
- cornstarch - 30 grams
- powdered sugar - 30 grams
- vanilla extract - 1/2 teaspoon
- water - 30 ml
Steps
- In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Make a well in the center.
- Add the frothy yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg into the well. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- For the topping, mix cornstarch, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract in a bowl. Gradually add water until a thick paste forms.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 4 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball.
- Place each ball on a lined baking tray, make a slight indentation in the center, and fill with pineapple jam.
- Spread the topping mixture over each bun, covering the jam.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
