Ingredients
- Beef flank steak - 250 grams, thinly sliced
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Orange juice - 100 ml, freshly squeezed
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons, kosher
- Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Zest of 1 orange
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon, for garnish
Steps
- In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with cornstarch and mix until well coated. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to tenderize.
- In a small saucepan, combine the orange juice, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, grated ginger, and orange zest. Cook over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the beef strips in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, flipping halfway through.
- Remove the beef from the pan and set aside. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of oil and stir-fry the green onions for about 1 minute.
- Return the beef to the skillet and pour the orange sauce over it. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring until the beef is well coated and heated through.
- Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds and additional green onions if desired.
