Ingredients

  • Ground beef (lean) - 250 grams
  • Scallions - 2 stalks, finely chopped

  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Whole wheat flour - 120 grams
  • Yeast - 1 teaspoon
  • Warm water - 80 ml
  • Sugar - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
  • Cilantro - a handful, chopped
  • Lettuce leaves - 2 pieces

Steps

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water and let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the whole wheat flour and salt, then add the yeast mixture and knead until a smooth dough forms. Cover and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine ground beef, scallions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix well and shape into two patties.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and cook the beef patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and cooked through. Remove from heat.
  5. Once the dough has risen, divide it into two equal portions and roll each into a ball. Flatten each ball into a disk about 1 cm thick.
  6. Steam the dough disks in a steamer basket lined with parchment paper for about 10-12 minutes until fluffy.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a beef patty on each steamed bun, adding cucumber slices, cilantro, and a lettuce leaf on top. Serve immediately.
