Ingredients
- Ground lamb - 400 grams
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, grated - 1 teaspoon
- Spring onion, finely chopped - 2 stalks
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Chili paste - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Cabbage leaves (for wrapping) - 4 large leaves
- Cilantro, chopped - 2 tablespoons
- Lime wedges - 2, for serving
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground lamb, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped spring onion, soy sauce, five-spice powder, chili paste, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
- Divide the lamb mixture into 2 equal portions and shape each into a patty about 2.5 cm thick.
- Heat sesame oil in a skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the lamb patties and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the cabbage leaves by washing and drying them. These will serve as the low-carb 'buns'.
- Once the patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.
- To assemble, place each lamb patty on a cabbage leaf, top with chopped cilantro, and serve with lime wedges on the side.
