Ingredients

  • Glutinous rice flour - 200 grams
  • Water - 150 ml
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Shiitake mushrooms - 50 grams, sliced
  • Baby bok choy - 100 grams, chopped
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine glutinous rice flour and water to form a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a greased steaming dish.
  2. Steam the batter in a steamer over medium heat for 20 minutes, or until set. Let it cool before cutting into pieces.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant.
  4. Add the julienned carrot and sliced shiitake mushrooms. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender.
  5. Add the chopped baby bok choy and stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
  6. Cut the steamed rice cake into bite-sized pieces and add them to the pan. Drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil.
  7. Stir-fry everything together for another 3-4 minutes, ensuring the rice cake is heated through. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
