Ingredients
- Duck breast - 250 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Shaoxing wine - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Honey - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Burgers buns - 2
- Mayonnaise - 2 tablespoons
- Sriracha - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 1 tablespoon
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, five-spice powder, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger to create a marinade.
- Slice the duck breast in half and marinate it in the mixture for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the marinated duck breast skin-side down and cook for about 6-7 minutes until crispy.
- Flip the duck and cook for an additional 6-7 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 75°C. Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes.
- While the duck is resting, mix mayonnaise and Sriracha in a small bowl to create a spicy sauce.
- Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet until golden brown.
- Slice the duck breast thinly and assemble the burgers by spreading the spicy mayo on the bottom bun, adding sliced duck, cucumber, carrot, and cilantro, then top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve the Nanjing Duck Burgers immediately with extra cucumber and carrot on the side.
