Ingredients
- All-purpose flour - 250 grams
- Unsalted butter - 100 grams
- Chicken breast (halal) - 200 grams, minced
- Green onions - 2, finely chopped
- Carrot - 1 medium, grated
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg - 1, beaten (for egg wash)
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and butter, mixing until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gradually add cold water (about 100 ml) to the flour mixture, kneading until a smooth dough forms. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the minced chicken to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the grated carrot, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until vegetables are tender. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- On a floured surface, roll out the dough to a thickness of about 3 mm. Cut out circles approximately 10 cm in diameter.
- Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and crimp the edges to seal.
- Brush the tops of the pastries with the beaten egg to give them a golden color when baked.
- Arrange the pastries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
