- All-purpose flour - 100 grams
- Golden syrup - 50 grams
- Vegetable oil - 30 grams
- Baking soda - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red bean paste - 100 grams
- Water - 30 ml
- Sesame seeds - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - a pinch
Steps
- In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the golden syrup, vegetable oil, and water until well combined.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Cover the dough with plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Divide the red bean paste into 2 equal portions and shape them into balls.
- Divide the dough into 2 equal pieces and flatten each piece into a disc.
- Place a ball of red bean paste in the center of each disc and carefully wrap the dough around it, sealing it completely.
- Roll each filled mooncake into a ball and gently press it into a mooncake mold to shape it.
- Place the shaped mooncakes on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top of each mooncake and lightly brush with water.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.
