Ingredients

  • Beef flank steak - 250 grams, thinly sliced against the grain
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Brown sugar - 1 tablespoon
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Green onions - 3, chopped (white and green parts separated)
  • Red bell pepper - 1, sliced
  • Broccoli florets - 100 grams
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper - to taste

Steps

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced beef, soy sauce, brown sugar, and cornstarch. Marinate for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the marinated beef to the pan in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned, then remove from the pan and set aside.
  4. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Stir-fry the minced garlic, minced ginger, and the white parts of the chopped green onions for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  5. Add the red bell pepper and broccoli florets to the pan and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
  6. Return the beef to the pan and mix well with the vegetables, cooking for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil and add the green parts of the green onions. Toss everything together and season with black pepper to taste.
  8. Remove from heat and serve hot, ideally over steamed rice or noodles.
