- beef flank steak - 250 grams, thinly sliced against the grain
- soy sauce - 4 tablespoons
- brown sugar - 2 tablespoons
- cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- green onions - 4, chopped (white and green parts separated)
- water - 60 milliliters
- black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, and water. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
- Add the sliced beef to the marinade and let it sit for 15 minutes.
- Sprinkle cornstarch over the marinated beef and toss to coat evenly.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the beef in a single layer and cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining oil. Sauté minced ginger, garlic, and the white parts of the green onions for about 1 minute.
- Return the beef to the skillet, pour in the marinade, and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Add the green parts of the green onions, stirring briefly to combine.
- Serve hot, optionally with steamed rice or noodles.
