Ingredients

  • Mock fish fillets - 200 grams
  • Black bean sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, sliced
  • Carrot - 1 medium, julienned
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Peas - 50 grams, fresh or frozen
  • Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
  • Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
  • Water - 100 ml
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Fresh cilantro - for garnish

Steps

  1. Start by marinating the mock fish fillets in a mixture of 1 tablespoon of black bean sauce, soy sauce, minced garlic, and minced ginger for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a non-stick pan over medium heat, and sauté the marinated mock fish for about 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove the mock fish from the pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, and add the sliced bell pepper, julienned carrot, and peas. Stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until the vegetables are tender but still crisp.
  4. In a small bowl, mix the remaining 2 tablespoons of black bean sauce, cornstarch, and water to create a sauce mixture.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture into the pan with the vegetables, stirring well to combine. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Add the cooked mock fish back to the pan, tossing gently to coat in the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through.
  7. Drizzle with sesame oil and sprinkle with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro before serving.
