- Firm tofu - 200 grams, cubed
- Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil - 2 tablespoons
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, minced
- Doubanjiang (fermented broad bean paste) - 2 tablespoons
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Vegetable broth - 100 ml
- Cornstarch - 1 tablespoon
- Red bell pepper - 1, diced
- Green onions - 2, chopped
- Mozzarella cheese - 150 grams, shredded
- Fresh cilantro - for garnish
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F).
- In a pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat and add the Sichuan peppercorns, stirring until fragrant.
- Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in the doubanjiang and cook for 1-2 minutes, then add the cubed tofu, soy sauce, and vegetable broth.
- Bring to a simmer and let cook for 5 minutes. Mix the cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then add it to the pan to thicken the sauce. Cook for an additional 2 minutes.
- Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and transfer it to a baking sheet or pizza stone.
- Spread the tofu mixture evenly over the dough, leaving a small border for the crust.
- Sprinkle the diced red bell pepper and shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and drizzle with sesame oil. Garnish with chopped green onions and fresh cilantro before slicing and serving.
