Ingredients

  • Sticky rice - 150 grams
  • Coconut milk - 200 ml
  • Sugar - 30 grams
  • Salt - 1/4 teaspoon
  • Ripe mango - 1 medium (approximately 200 grams)
  • Sesame seeds (optional) - 1 tablespoon

Steps

  1. Rinse the sticky rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak it in water for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Drain the soaked rice and steam it in a bamboo or metal steamer lined with cheesecloth for about 20-25 minutes until tender.
  3. While the rice is steaming, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat.
  4. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a mixing bowl and pour about 150 ml of the coconut sauce over it. Stir gently to combine and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  5. Peel and slice the ripe mango into thin strips.
  6. To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with mango slices, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top if desired.
