Ingredients
- Ground beef - 300 grams
- Sichuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Soy sauce - 1 tablespoon
- Chili oil - 1 tablespoon
- Lettuce leaves (large, such as iceberg or romaine) - 4 leaves
- Cucumber - 1 small, thinly sliced
- Carrot - 1 small, julienned
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - to taste
- Black pepper - to taste
Steps
- In a spice grinder, coarsely grind the Sichuan peppercorns and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground Sichuan peppercorns, minced garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce, chili oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Form the mixture into two equal patties.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and add a little sesame oil. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the lettuce wraps by washing and drying the leaves. Place two leaves on each plate.
- Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing a patty in each lettuce wrap. Top with cucumber slices, julienned carrot, and chopped cilantro.
- Drizzle a little extra chili oil on top if desired and serve immediately.
