- King oyster mushrooms - 200 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Brown sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cumin powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Peking duck sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Steamed bao buns - 2 pieces
- Cucumber - 1/2, thinly sliced
- Fresh cilantro - 1/4 cup, chopped
- Chili sauce - to taste
Steps
- Clean the king oyster mushrooms and shred them into thin strips using a fork or knife.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add sesame oil and sauté the minced garlic and grated ginger until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the shredded mushrooms to the skillet and stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until they are tender and lightly browned.
- Pour in the soy sauce, rice vinegar, brown sugar, coriander powder, and cumin powder. Mix well and cook for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the Peking duck sauce until fully combined.
- While the mushroom filling cools slightly, steam the bao buns according to package instructions until soft and warm.
- To assemble, place a generous amount of the mushroom filling into each bao bun, top with sliced cucumber, and sprinkle with fresh cilantro.
- Add chili sauce to taste and serve immediately.
