Ingredients

  • Firm tofu - 250 grams
  • Lemongrass stalks - 2, finely chopped
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Soy sauce - 3 tablespoons
  • Maple syrup - 1 tablespoon
  • Lime juice - 1 tablespoon
  • Coconut milk - 2 tablespoons
  • Peanut butter - 3 tablespoons
  • Chili flakes - 1 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Black pepper - to taste
  • Skewers - 4 (soaked in water if wooden)

Steps

  1. Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, combine the chopped lemongrass, minced garlic, soy sauce, maple syrup, lime juice, coconut milk, salt, and black pepper to create a marinade.
  3. Add the tofu cubes to the marinade and let them soak for at least 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium heat.
  5. Thread the marinated tofu onto the soaked skewers.
  6. Grill the skewers for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and slightly charred.
  7. While the tofu is grilling, prepare the peanut sauce by mixing peanut butter, chili flakes, a splash of water, and a pinch of salt in a small bowl until smooth.
  8. Serve the grilled lemongrass tofu satay with the peanut sauce for dipping.
