Ingredients
- Firm tofu - 300 grams
- Lao Gan Ma chili crisp - 3 tablespoons
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Spring onions, chopped - 2
- Soy sauce (gluten-free) - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Cornstarch - 2 tablespoons
- Vegetable oil - 3 tablespoons
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Press the tofu for 15 minutes to remove excess moisture, then cut it into bite-sized cubes.
- In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
- Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add the tofu cubes to the skillet and fry until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil, then add minced garlic and ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the Lao Gan Ma chili crisp, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil. Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbly.
- Return the crispy tofu to the skillet, tossing it to coat in the sauce.
- Add chopped spring onions and stir for another minute.
- Serve hot, garnished with additional spring onions if desired.
