Ingredients

  • Long-grain rice - 150 grams
  • Beef sirloin - 200 grams, thinly sliced
  • Beef broth - 300 ml
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Spring onions - 2, chopped
  • Cilantro - a handful, chopped
  • Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
  • Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt - to taste
  • Chili oil - 1 teaspoon (optional)

Steps

  1. Rinse the long-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear, then soak for 20 minutes.
  2. In a skillet, heat the sesame oil over medium heat and add the minced garlic and grated ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
  3. Add the sliced beef to the skillet, season with black pepper and salt, and stir-fry until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and soy sauce, bring to a simmer, and cook for an additional 5 minutes until the beef is tender.
  5. While the beef is cooking, drain the soaked rice and prepare it according to package instructions, typically boiling in water until tender (about 15 minutes).
  6. Once the rice is cooked, fluff it with a fork and serve it on plates.
  7. Top the rice with the beef mixture, spooning the broth over it.
  8. Garnish with chopped spring onions and cilantro, and drizzle with chili oil if desired.
