Ingredients

  • Lamb shoulder - 300 grams, cut into 2.5 cm cubes
  • Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
  • Shaoxing wine - 1 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
  • Ginger - 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
  • Honey - 1 teaspoon
  • Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
  • Green onions - 2, chopped
  • Bell pepper - 1 medium, cut into 2.5 cm squares (optional)
  • Wooden skewers - 4, soaked in water for 30 minutes

Steps

  1. In a bowl, mix together the soy sauce, Shaoxing wine, minced garlic, minced ginger, five-spice powder, honey, and sesame oil to create the marinade.
  2. Add the lamb cubes to the marinade and mix well to coat. Cover and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes, or up to 2 hours for better flavor.
  3. Preheat a grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Thread the marinated lamb onto the soaked skewers, alternating with pieces of bell pepper if using.
  5. Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is browned and cooked to your desired doneness.
  6. Remove from the grill and sprinkle with chopped green onions before serving.
