Ingredients
- Ground lamb - 400 grams
- Garlic - 2 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 tablespoon, grated
- Green onion - 2, finely chopped
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Black pepper - 1/2 teaspoon
- Bao buns - 4
- Cucumber - 1, thinly sliced
- Carrot - 1, julienned
- Hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Cilantro - a handful, chopped
Steps
- In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, minced garlic, grated ginger, chopped green onion, soy sauce, sesame oil, five-spice powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 2 equal patties, about 2 cm thick.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the lamb patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 70°C.
- While the patties are cooking, prepare the cucumber and carrot salad by mixing the sliced cucumber, julienned carrot, rice vinegar, and half of the chopped cilantro in a bowl.
- Steam the bao buns according to package instructions, usually about 5-10 minutes.
- Once the patties are cooked, assemble the burgers by placing each patty in a steamed bao bun, topping with the cucumber salad, a drizzle of hoisin sauce, and the remaining cilantro.
- Serve immediately and enjoy your high protein Chinese lamb burger!
