- Pork belly - 300 grams
- Soy sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Szechuan peppercorns - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic - 3 cloves, minced
- Ginger - 1 teaspoon, grated
- Five-spice powder - 1/2 teaspoon
- Almond flour - 1 cup
- Egg - 1 large
- Baking powder - 1 teaspoon
- Salt - 1/2 teaspoon
- Olive oil - 1 tablespoon
- Cucumber - 1 small, julienned
- Fresh cilantro - a handful, chopped
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a bowl, combine soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, Szechuan peppercorns, and five-spice powder. Mix well.
- Cut the pork belly into bite-sized pieces and marinate in the sauce mixture for at least 15 minutes.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the marinated pork belly and cook until browned and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, mix almond flour, baking powder, salt, and egg until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions and shape each into a round bun.
- Place the buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Once the buns are ready, slice them open and fill each with cooked pork belly, topped with julienned cucumber and chopped cilantro.
