Ingredients
- Duck breast - 300 grams
- Soy sauce (or coconut aminos) - 2 tablespoons
- Five spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic powder - 1 teaspoon
- Ginger powder - 1 teaspoon
- Cabbage leaves (for buns) - 4 large leaves
- Cucumber - 1 medium, thinly sliced
- Green onion - 2, chopped
- Sugar-free hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Sesame oil - 1 tablespoon
- Salt - to taste
- Pepper - to taste
Steps
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Score the skin of the duck breast in a criss-cross pattern and season with salt, pepper, five spice powder, garlic powder, and ginger powder.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and place the duck breast skin-side down. Cook for about 6-8 minutes until the skin is crispy.
- Flip the duck breast and sear for an additional 2-3 minutes on the flesh side.
- Transfer the duck breast to a baking dish, brush with soy sauce (or coconut aminos), and roast in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes for medium-rare.
- While the duck is cooking, prepare the cabbage leaves by rinsing and patting dry; these will serve as your burger buns.
- Once the duck is done, let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing it thinly.
- Assemble the burger by placing sliced duck on a cabbage leaf, adding cucumber slices, green onion, and a drizzle of sugar-free hoisin sauce.
- Top with another cabbage leaf and serve immediately.
