Ingredients
- Pork belly - 300 grams
- Soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free) - 3 tablespoons
- Sugar-free hoisin sauce - 2 tablespoons
- Rice vinegar - 1 tablespoon
- Sesame oil - 1 teaspoon
- Five-spice powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garlic, minced - 2 cloves
- Ginger, minced - 1 teaspoon
- Red food coloring (optional) - a few drops
Steps
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar-free hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, five-spice powder, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red food coloring if using.
- Cut the pork belly into 1-inch thick strips and place them in the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, preferably 2 hours.
- Line a baking tray with aluminum foil and place a rack on top. Arrange the marinated pork strips on the rack.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning halfway through, until the pork is cooked through and has a nice char.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
